The Waterwheel and watercourse
A turning waterwheel is an instantly memorable feature at any mill. Ours is rather large at 10 ft by 15ft 4 inches and features unusual cast iron buckets instead of the more traditional wooden paddles as seen in other Cumbrian mills. As the wheel has not been turning regularly, the sluice gates and leat have silted up and the wheel now needs urgent repairs to enable it to harness the natural power of the river to play its part in returning the mill to active use.
Help us raise £15,000 to bring this iconic feature back into working order. Any funds raised over our target will be used towards other elements of the repairs to the grade2* mill.
Warwick Bridge corn mill has an enviably complete set of machinery which would enable the mill to return to production, however, as this has not been in use since 1989 it needs some care and attention. please join our appeal to raise the final £10,000 that would enable the millstones to turn and flour to be produced once more. Any funds raised over our target will be used towards other elements of the repairs to this very special building.
