Lanchester Heritage Audit

We were commissioned in October 2015 by Lanchester Parish Council to support and mentor volunteers from within the community who are producing a Heritage Audit which will complement their emerging Neighbourhood Plan. The audit will set out the designated and undesignated heritage assets in the parish, show how significant they are, and the risks and opportunities associated with them. The audit will inform the Neighbourhood Plan policies and also possible future conservation or archaeology projects.

We are helping the group review and analyse existing data on the historic environment in various souces; carry out a broad field survey of the parish, including landscape features, archaeology and the built environment; carry out an online Heritage at Risk Survey to identify any designated and undesignated heritage assets at risk from their condition or level of occupancy; and finally assist them in collating all the information they have gathered in a way that ensures the Audit can form a sound evidence base to support the Neighbourhood Plan and other possible future activities.
