Building Preservation Projects
The projects in this category fall into two main categories. Project Management where we have been asked to manage conservation and restoration works for others using our many years of experience in brokering solutions and working with multi disciplinary heritage professionals and Building Preservation Projects where we have acquired and restored (or are in the process of restoring) and bringing back into productive use buildings of significant local, regional or national importance but have fallen into disuse. The assistance of the Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic England and the Architectural Fund in particular have been crucial to the ability of the Trust to save these historic buildings.
Some of the early projects that the Trust was involved with included farmbuildings in North Yorkshire, shops and flats at Whitby and in Northumberland the conversion of a former pub at Alnwick and a Palladian mansion at Belford, and on Tyneside with St Mary's Church Gateshead, another Grade I listed building
