Regeneration

North of England Civic Trust has unrivalled experience of specialist regeneration across the North of England.

Our input can be at many levels, from exploring possibilities with owners and stakeholders, through looking at options for historic buildings, to taking on ‘at risk’ buildings ourselves and working with funders and stakeholders to secure its future.

Working with local authorities we have advised on heritage-led regeneration schemes, such as Townscape Heritage Initiatives and other conservation area-based schemes in Bedlington, Blyth, Middlesbrough, Gateshead and Tynemouth.

Our past experience of active regeneration projects includes working in Newcastle on the acclaimed Grainger Town Project, regenerating 2 buildings in a run down area of Sunderland to put them back into economic use and most recently, completing the refurbishment of an historic saw mill in North Yorkshire.   In the last 10 years we have secured over £10 million of funding and created over 80 jobs as a result of regeneration and reuse of historic buildings.
