'Hands On' Heritage Skills

Held on 6th November, 2007, the Heritage Skills Project held ‘Hands On’ Heritage Skills at Beamish Open Air Museum. This extremely popular event provided an opportunity for all participants to try out and learn about heritage skills, and find out what activities are happening around the region.

Building from the Heritage Skills Symposium held in June 2007, this event offered everyone involved a wonderful opportunity to test their abilities in blacksmithing and stone letter carving. Participants also partook in a guided talk on either traditional painting techniques used in the Beamish Masonic Hall or hard landscaping around Home Farm, a Grade II listed building.

The feedback was positive and one delegate said Thanks a million for organising a really interesting day.  I didn't realise how many skills we have in the North East.’
