North of England Civic Trust
In early June, lots of people passionate about the historic environment joined us for some unique fundraising opportunities to support the work of the Heritage Skills Initiative at North of England Civic Trust, and help preserve the skills and knowledge to maintain our heritage for future generations to enjoy.
We managed to raise over £10,000 at the events below.
The dinner, at Jesmond Dene House in Newcastle, included after dinner talks by Kevin McCloud (Grand Designs Ch4) and Dr Jonathan Foyle (Climbing Great Buildings BBC Time Team Ch4), and an Auction of Promises compered by John Grundy (Grundy's Wonders ITV). Kevin and Jonathan are pictured above at the dinner.
Kevin McCloud and Dr Jonathan Foyle climbed the Transporter Bridge in Middlesbrough on Saturday 11th June, and counted down many bungee jumpers as they took the plunge in support of the historic environment. Jonathan even did a bungee jump himself!
Meanwhile, some of the regions finest traditional buildings craftspeople demonstrated their skills at a mini skills fair, and many people took the opportunity to have a go themselves and to find out more about the work of NECT and HSI.
